Most recent works

3 decent size canvases - I hope to have enough work soon for my first solo show - venue yet to be decided. I've been thinking lately about patterns, DNA, memes and similar replicators and the impact they have on our world. I've included in my paintings references to reoccurring ideas, techno-memes and, of course, the sense of a protracted adolescence.

Forever Young works

In homage to the Peter Pan Syndrome suffered/enjoyed by myself, 5 canvases, decent size and with a bit of time spent in development and production. I'm quite happy with the results. The paintings are pseudo-memories shared by many of my gen, 80 x 100cm, mixed media on canvas.

finished panels

5 panels - still looking at themes of 'growing up/staying young'. I'm interested in how contemporary generations don't grow up - a kind of Peter Pan syndrome. I'm old, have kids of my own, a mortgage and full-time career, yet I play games, watch cartoons, spray paint, collect lego, pull pranks and shop for toys. I think I'll never grow up, and so I'm treated like a child by those of the older generation. Interesting.
Each panel is 60 x 122cm, acrylic & spray enamel on framed MDF

extra work lying around

I don't own these any more - they've gone on to other good homes. Currently in a mad upload frenzy (MUF) so some of the stuff is a bit old. I'm sure that's okay, given my past blogging commitment.

Paintings

I use a bunch of different media for different projects: oils, acrylics, mixed media, gouache, enamel (I'm in love with enamel at the moment), digital, spray enamel; if it can mark a surface, I'll give it a go. Scale ranges from tiny (5cm x 5cm
) to pretty sizey (mural). A lot of work is sold, but I'm producing all the time. As a traditional artform, I use painting as a means of developing my understanding of figure in an effort to communicate ideas, often emotionally loaded, about the society I live in. Canvases are an easy way to claim a piece of aesthetic and stick it on a wall to look at and can be more engaging than some of the prime-time reality-tv slag around.
