Sick Beds
Because I've got a long way to go to work, I often stop off and paint on some disposed mattresses that I find lying about. They're kind of sad - once loved and used intimately, now discarded to rot on the side of the road. I thought this was like our elderly or mentally ill, we throw them away for our convenience. They also help me not to fall asleep as I drive, but they do make the trip a little longer. Not much longer, 'cuz they don't take long to paint. I'm not against people throwing out mattresses illegally, otherwise I'd have nothing semi-legal to paint and I'd fall asleep at the wheel and die.

New stuff for 2011
I've been busy over the summer, some work in progress but all with crappy dodgey photography in my garage.

Pieta, 2009
I think this is one of my most significant pieces as it brings together a lot of the different aspects of my praxis. I used a dremel to scour into the enamel layers of paint that I prepared, revealing blue tones, and also used spray paints to achieve what I think is a very subtle and gentle piece. Needs a nice frame and a reputable gallery though.

Exoskeleton - listen, feel & action, 2009
These are three of my favorite works that I've produced so far - I can look at them for so long and not get bored. I've worked them for a long time and they're finally at a point that I can live with. Lets see how long I can last without adding more - searching for that elusive 'resolution'. Here's something spooky - I painted the numbers '159' first, chosen purely for aesthetic value. The next number I chose, 206, had to be substantially different from the first, not repeating any digits but also aesthetically loaded. The remaining number had to also avoid repetition but I decided on two digits instead of three, breaking up any kind of pattern. A few weeks later I was sitting on the couch looking at the paintings and I noticed that all my attempts to avoid patterns with the numbers were in vain: 206-159=47. If you know me, then you know that numbers and maths are not my strong suite, but it does go to show how sneaky the subconscious is.

Busy holidays
December & January were a busy time for many - and me. Over the holidays I produced a lot of work and got around to taking photos of older stuff as well. A big thank you to those who have really helped me - you know who you are!

New two favs
I kind of like these two paintings - they feature two classic authors that I love to read: Isaac Azimov and H.P.Lovecraft. In these works they find themselves along side pop-cultural figures that they helped inspire. If in doubt, read "I, Robot" by Azimov and "The Call of Cthulhu" by Lovecraft.
